The proclamation credited Dragan with creating the 'Artists in Residence' program at the Lambertville Public School, staging annual student performances that boosted self-esteem and creativity, and building a museum-quality Halloween display that raises thousands of dollars each year for local charities including the Lambertville United Methodist Church community kitchen.
Neighbors and councilmembers recalled specific programs—such as the 'String of Pearls' project—and described Dragan’s influence on generations of students and the town’s reputation. Dragan, who accepted the proclamation, said she doesn’t “consider myself an artist per se” but identified as someone who helps create artists, adding: “I see myself more as a creator of artists and that's my greatest joy.”
The council adopted the proclamation by voice vote and designated October 31 as 'Dolores Dragan Day' in perpetuity.
