The Klamath County Board of Commissioners voted April 14 to approve compensation and benefits provisions for Community Corrections leadership intended to align those positions with provisions in the county’s Federation of Parole and Probation Officers (FOP) collective bargaining agreement.
A county staff representative presented the department request, saying leadership positions classified as Community Corrections supervisors and above will receive salary and cost‑of‑living adjustments consistent with non‑union employees, and the board should apply several specific FOP contract provisions to those leaders. The proposal also keeps PTO accrual and payout language in line with the FOP agreement and makes leadership eligible for the county medical, dental and vision plans. The presentation noted that a medical opt‑out process would follow Klamath County Human Resources policies and that participation in an HRA VEBA would continue, with contributions based on current P&P compensation percentages.
The presenter told the board the package was intended to remove barriers to accepting leadership roles in Community Corrections and to address retirement‑benefit cleanups completed earlier. Commissioners asked no substantive questions before a motion to approve the compensation, PTO and payout, insurance options, medical opt‑out and HRA VEBA provisions was made and seconded; the board signaled unanimous support.
The vote brings the county’s Community Corrections leadership benefits and certain pay practices into parity with the referenced contract language; the presentation said the board, county liaison, HR and leadership will meet if salary compression becomes an issue. The board did not set additional follow‑up steps during the meeting beyond standard administrative implementation.
The action recorded: approval of the compensation and benefits package for Community Corrections leadership as presented to the board on April 14.
