County proclaims 'Stop the Silence' week and recognizes 4-H youth achievements

Laura Gambino, executive director of Cross Timbers Family Services, asked the court to adopt a proclamation supporting Stop the Silence community events tied to Crime Victims' Rights Week, child-abuse prevention and Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Gambino described the April 28 rally program (District Attorney Alan Nash to give opening remarks, flag presentation by Tarleton Corps of Cadets, and a wreath presentation honoring a survivor) and asked the court to sign the proclamation.
"Stop the Silence is about advocating for prevention of child abuse awareness," Gambino said. The court moved to approve the proclamation (motion by Commissioner Edwards; second by Commissioner Buck) and the vote carried.
Earlier, the court heard an AgriLife Extension Office presentation recognizing local youth for robotics, livestock judging, dairy judging and other competitions. Several students were named and applauded, including Austin Olson, Hunter Tarver, Weston Tarver, Daniel Hoffman, Jeremiah Andrews, Evan Boe, Bella Olson, Mason Olson, Blaze Mock, Braxton Mock, Hudson Moore, Barrett Wood, Kate Osinga, Luke Kyper, Kylie Osinga and Jack Osinga. Commissioners and attendees applauded the youth and distributed certificates.
The court signed the proclamation and vendors and staff were thanked before the meeting continued to other business.
