Aging services official tells Erath County commissioners federal, local funds support meals, dementia resources

Green outlined core services that are offered at no charge to qualified clients: information and referral, benefits counseling (including Medicare and VA assistance), short-term case management, home modifications and emergency financial assistance, the long-term care ombudsman program, respite services, and a Veterans-Directed Care option. He said the agency has added dementia-resource specialists supported by two federal and one state grant to expand assistance for people living with dementia.
Green reported pass-through funding last year of nearly $300,000 for local services, noting those dollars supported 223 county residents with home-delivered meals and transportation assistance. He gave a local contact number for the Area Agency on Aging (800-272-3921) and offered to work with county leaders on matching local priorities with available state and federal supports.
