Kerr County commissioners on April 13 tentatively awarded the construction contract for the Centerpoint Wastewater Collection Project Phase 4 to Cromax Construction, Inc. for $2,667,550, pending final approval by the Texas Water Development Board.
County engineering consultant Tetra Tech summarized the procurement: bids were opened and only one bid was received — Cromax at $2,667,550. Tetra Tech reviewed the submission and recommended the award based on qualifications and pricing for the limited scope of this phase. "Only one bid was received, that being from Cromax Construction Incorporated, in the amount of $2,667,550," the consultant reported to the court.
The project will be financed with funds from the Texas Water Development Board (Clean Water State Revolving Fund and the Texas Economically Disadvantaged Areas Program), and staff said sufficient funding is available to move forward. Commissioners asked Tetra Tech to prioritize work on Elm Pass Road in early construction to finish road sealing in that area and to expedite TWDB approval when possible.
The court moved to tentatively award the contract and to authorize the judge to execute the contract once TWDB approval is received. Tetra Tech noted TWDB review times vary but that materials had been submitted to the board in advance of the award for faster processing.
