County Highway staff told the Lake County Council that Bridge 254 in the Lake George area was budgeted last year, but construction did not proceed and the funds remain available. Staff asked the council to appropriate those funds so the project can move forward; the local roads and streets budget (703) would supplement bridge funds already allocated.
Separately, staff reported that the county received a 2026 state matching grant deposit of $783,845.85. The county will return next month to request a line item and appropriation to cover the required county match for the state grant. “We will come back next month and ask for a line item and appropriation,” staff said.
Council members asked where the county’s match would come from; staff said they were working with the commissioners to identify sources. The bridge appropriation and the state grant were informational and procedural items on the agenda; no final appropriation vote was recorded during the discussion.
