The Recorder’s Office asked the Lake County Council to approve a $7,655 supplemental‑pay adjustment so a promoted part‑time worker moving to full time will be paid in line with longer‑tenured colleagues.
The presenter said the change follows a 35‑year employee’s retirement and that the promoted employee will work in the e‑recording department. She said the new staffer’s annual pay would be “a little bit over $41,000,” of which $32,345 would come from the general fund and $7,655 from the supplemental fund. “Only doing that because it’s fair,” the presenter said.
Council members asked whether positions like this could be shifted to a perpetuation fund in the future. The Recorder’s Office representative said three positions are already fully funded from the perpetuation fund but cautioned that moving more positions now could strain office operations.
The presenter said no new appropriation was being requested; the requested action would move supplemental pay funding and shift some part‑time general‑fund expenditures. Council members asked staff to research the feasibility of transitioning strategic positions to other funding streams as rules around perpetuation evolve.
The council did not take a final vote during the discussion; staff said they would bring any formal ordinance or line‑item request back on the agenda as needed.
