Selectboard clears routine permits, renewals and administrative actions

At the April 14 meeting the Selectboard handled routine business and administrative approvals.

Key votes and routine approvals included: • Consent agenda (minutes from March 17 and March 24 emergency meeting): motion carries 3-0. • Parade/procession and event approvals: Somerset Public Health 'Move More Kids' 5K (Coburn Park), the American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 19 fundraising route, and a KV CAP/Skowhegan Area Chamber of Commerce Child Abuse Prevention Month event — all approved 3-0. • Liquor license renewals: Fraternal Order of Eagles Skowhegan Aerie #1457 at 164 Water Street (approved 3-0); Skowhegan Madison Lodge #2531 VPO Elks at 21 Silver Street was tabled because of a quorum/membership-related conflict and will be considered at the next meeting; Washburn Enterprises LLC (Central Maine Family Fun Bowling Center) renewal approved 3-0. • Small capital and repair expenditures: $1,046.81 from the recreation reserve for community center heating repairs (approved 3-0); Cynthia Currier authorized to expend up to $4,606 from solid waste reserve to repair the transfer station gate (approved 3-0); board approved up to $20,000 from capital reserve for targeted sewer collection-line relining and catch-basin work to address downtown sewer gas complaints (approved 3-0). • Administrative matters: appointment of Donald Skillings to customary interim roles (safety commissioner, purchasing agent, emergency management director, etc.) approved 3-0; authorized two mortgage discharges (Brenda Hill and Spinning Mill LLC) after borrowers satisfied their obligations (both approved 3-0); Treasurer's Warrants 73, 74, 75, 117 and 76 approved 3-0.
