The St. Louis County Youth Advisory Council voted on March 3 to authorize member Izzy Coxgaranu to send a draft social‑media recommendation to Alan Bruce, the liaison to boards and commissions in the county executive’s office.
"I now motion that I, Izzy Coxgaranu, be authorized to send the social media recommendation email to Mr. Alan Bruce as presented and amended," Coxgaranu said during the meeting. A second was recorded and members voted in favor by voice; no opposition was announced.
Council members spent much of the meeting refining the draft message and how the council would present itself online. Members suggested standardizing the council abbreviation to “YAC” and changing phrasing such as "familiar platforms like Instagram" to "such as Instagram." Coxgaranu said she would grant edit access on the draft and include members’ names on the communication.
Beyond the social‑media motion, members discussed pursuing public, in‑person outreach events over the remainder of their term. Ideas included short presentations of the council’s reports, inviting education and mental‑health experts, and targeting youth audiences through school clubs and local high schools. "I think it would be cool to do something in person and present our findings," one member said, urging events geared toward students.
Miss Frank, who handled several procedural questions during the meeting, said she would follow up on whether the council could use breakout workgroups during a noticed meeting and confirmed she would report back on logistical questions.
Votes at a glance: the council approved the Feb. 10, 2026 meeting minutes; authorized Coxgaranu to send the social‑media recommendation to Alan Bruce; set the next council meeting for March 31, 2026 at 6 p.m.; and adjourned the March 3 meeting by voice vote.
Next steps: members were asked to research potential presenters for literacy and mental‑health events and to bring names to the March 31 meeting; Coxgaranu said she would track responses about presentation dates and final details for account access.
