Board authorizes purchase of portion of 57 Bungay Road and authorizes assessor-hiring negotiations after executive session

Following a closed executive session to discuss a personnel matter (the assessor position) and a property acquisition, the Seymour Board of Selectpersons approved two formal actions.
The board authorized the first selectwoman to enter into a contract to purchase a portion of 57 Bungay Road. Al moved the motion, Pat seconded, and the board recorded a 6-0 vote in favor. The authorization allows the first selectwoman to finalize purchase terms on the town’s behalf.
The board also authorized the first selectwoman and the HR director to enter into negotiations to hire a tax assessor. That motion was moved and seconded and approved 6-0. The board specifically invited the town attorney Richard Bera, Kurt Miller and HR Director Chris Pelosi into the executive session earlier in the meeting to participate in related discussions; the chair reported that no votes or final actions were taken during executive session itself.
These approvals authorize staff to proceed with contract negotiations for land purchase and with personnel negotiations for the assessor role; both items will return to the board if further formal approvals or budget appropriations are required.
