Seymour proclaimed a Purple Heart Town; local veterans honored at meeting

Representatives from the Military Order of the Purple Heart presented a plaque and a challenge coin and explained the Purple Heart Trail and Hall of Honor resources; the chapter’s history in Connecticut was discussed.
First Selectwoman Jonas read the proclamation dated March 18, 2025, noting the town’s appreciation for veterans and the intention to submit the proclamation to national headquarters for placement on the Purple Heart Trail listing. Community members and board members thanked the presenters; one resident described a family Purple Heart currently in her possession.
The board celebrated the designation and acknowledged local Purple Heart recipients living in Seymour. The proclamation will be sent to the Military Order of the Purple Heart’s national headquarters for formal listing.
