Lockport committee advances several public-works contracts and a GIS survey to next council meeting

Brian from Public Works described an IDOT resurfacing project on Illinois 7 and proposed removal of a guardrail to permit a new pedestrian crossing; staff said two property owners have agreed to split regrading costs 50/50 for slopes on private property and that the city would cover right-of-way regrading. The city received bids and staff recommended the lowest responsive bidder, Austin Tyler Construction, at $79,781; staff asked the committee to place resolution 26-052 on the next regular council agenda for acceptance of that bid.
Brian also requested placement of resolution 26-057 to accept Chamlin Associates’ proposal to survey sanitary rims and inverts and deliver GIS-ready data to fill gaps in the city’s asset database, at a cost not to exceed $50,000. He said the work will make the utility data “plug and play” in the city’s GIS and reduce in-house surveying time.
Earlier in the meeting the committee approved several routine consent items: a subdivision tree-trimming contract with Homer Tree not to exceed $129,500, an emergency repair to the Hamilton lift station with Connley Excavating and Construction not to exceed $56,737, and a Division Street wastewater lift-station repair with Connley not to exceed $38,100; those motions passed by roll call in committee.
What’s next: Resolution 26-052 (guardrail removal and related work) and resolution 26-057 (GIS services) will appear on the May 6 council agenda for final action; previously approved consent items will be recorded as committee approvals and included in the full council packet.
