District updates construction, finance and planning as Jackson groundbreaking set for May 11

At the April 13, 2026 West Bend School Board meeting, the district provided updates on construction, finances and planning.
Tim Harter, director of facilities and technology, said soil clearing and underground utility work are underway at the Jackson Elementary site and that the Plan Commission has approved exterior work for Greentree Elementary; the Silverbrook exterior plan will proceed to the common council. Harter said the Greentree parking and drop‑off changes will support early learning programming and evening gym use.
Assistant Superintendent Lenny Hanson presented the monthly financial review (through February), reporting that expenditures are roughly on track, salaries are the district's largest expense, and cash flow is strong (second best in five years). Hanson said food service is being monitored but expected to improve as federal claims are processed.
Superintendent Wimmer recognized Badger Middle School English teacher Grace King for winning a 2026 Herb Kohl Teacher Fellowship and noted community events: a Wisconsin DOT Buckle Up Phone Down campaign visual on campus and an April 17 Donate Life flag‑raising with a keynote from the National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin president. Wimmer also announced a May 11, 1:45 p.m. groundbreaking at the new Jackson Elementary site intended to include students in a daytime ceremony.
The board will receive a planning update in a future meeting on high school configuration following its earlier vote to consolidate to a single high school.
