Students lead board in unanimous votes to honor Black History Month and Fred Korematsu Day

Later in the meeting students Lula Matsura and Mata Maka Trap presented in support of Resolution 2856, emphasizing the importance of teaching the history of Japanese American internment and the legacy of Fred Korematsu. Trustees again thanked the student presenters, discussed local historical context and unanimously approved the resolution.
Both votes were taken during the resolutions portion of the meeting; staff will incorporate the adopted resolutions into district observances and curriculum outreach where appropriate. Trustees publicly commended the student speakers and encouraged continued student involvement in district governance.
