The LaSalle City Council approved a series of routine and substantive items during the meeting. Highlights include:
- Minutes: Council approved the March 30, 2026 minutes (motion carried).
- Community permits: Council approved a raffle license and a tag-day collection for August 14–15, 2026; approved a special-event street closure for VFW Post 4668 on May 25, 2026; and approved multiple special-event permits for LaSalle Speedway and Event Center for several 2026 dates (motions carried).
- Lead service-line replacement contract: Council accepted the low bid for the lead service-line replacement project and authorized contract execution subject to required documentation and contingent on participation in the Illinois EPA Public Water Supply Loan Program.
- Real estate actions: Council authorized staff to negotiate a redevelopment agreement for the 544 Street parcel with named prospective purchasers (subject to contingencies) and approved the sale conditions for 716 Buckland Street contingent on parcel combination and covenants to prevent separate sales.
- Committee recommendations and contracts: Finance committee recommendations were approved to accept a $9,892 roofing bid and to authorize pay request No. 1 ($183,264.36) to Universal Asphalt & Excavating Inc. for the Malcolm and Gun Avenue emergency water main replacements. The council also approved a final pay request totaling $144,450 to Municipal Well & Pump for a deep-well drilling project.
- Economic development actions: Council approved submitting a River’s Edge redevelopment zone application and an Illinois opportunity zone application, and renewed membership with Global Site Location Industries at a cost of $30,000.
- Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) program: Council approved the 2026 MFT road projects and authorized staff to proceed with program implementation.
- Bills and adjournment: Council approved bills totaling $1,171,646.86 and adjourned the meeting.
