Council reviews ordinance changes and clarifies technical-review notes will be public when forwarded to planning board

During the Jan. 12 work session, the council reviewed several administrative agenda items, including an ordinance amending chapters of the municipal code related to boards, commissions and committees and a separate ordinance changing land-use procedures and the technical review committee.
A council member asked whether technical-review meetings would be public and whether notes from those meetings would be posted. A township representative explained that the technical review is intended to be a staff-level, technical evaluation that then yields a recommendation to the planning board; because the recommendation becomes part of the planning-board record, the content would be publicly available when the application moves forward to the board.
Council members also acknowledged multiple contract and finance items across departments (business administrator items A–U; finance items A–E) and moved those items forward without extended discussion. No final votes on the ordinances were recorded during the work session.
What happens next: The technical-review process will continue as redesigned, and staff confirmed that recommendations going to the planning board will be part of the public record.
