USC plans "Columbia Crawl" orientation events for students in August

A University of South Carolina representative described a campus-wide orientation called the Columbia Crawl scheduled for Aug. 27'29 to introduce students to Columbia's districts and businesses.
The representative provided the schedule: Bull Street District on Thursday, Aug. 27 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m.; Design Street on Friday, Aug. 28 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.; Five Points on Friday from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m.; and a Main Street/Kershaw City morning event on Saturday, Aug. 29 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with the Vista featured from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. The program will conclude with a free concert in the park. Organizers asked campuses to promote the free events and help recruit student participation.
The USC representative said the Columbia Crawl grew from several months of planning with district partners and the mayor's office and is intended to connect students with local businesses and neighborhoods early in the academic year.
