Vice Chair O'Nailer asked whether the renewal was expected to be non-renewed after a year; the superintendent and staff said the district is exploring reorganization and succession planning but could not guarantee classroom positions would be unaffected, noting the shortfall's size. The committee emphasized that any reorganization would aim to protect classroom instruction where possible.
A motion to approve the contract renewal was made in subcommittee and, after a roll-call confirmation of affirmative votes, the matter was recorded as passing the subcommittee and will be forwarded to the full school committee for final action.
