Lee County board lays out process to craft five‑year strategic plan

The Lee County Board of Education on Jan. 12 described the process it will use to produce a new five‑year strategic plan, starting with district‑level listening sessions and ending with board‑approved goals that will guide school and classroom action plans.
Dr. TR, who introduced the monthly informational reports, said the district will "be holding strategic planning sessions at all school sites with the district and school leadership and community partners," and that once themes are identified "the board will then work on setting overarching goals that will drive the direction of the school district for the next five years." He added the board's goal is to have the final plan in place and approved "by this fall." (Dr. TR)
The board described the planning sequence as: collect stakeholder input, surface improvement themes, set districtwide goals, then require schools, teachers and students to develop action plans aligned to those goals. District staff said they will continue to close out the current strategic plan while gathering data and feedback for the next plan.
As part of the district report, Dr. TR also provided operational figures intended to inform planning. He said SLOs collection for November totaled $57,536.75 and reported plant operations data on corrective and preventive work orders. The district noted an increase in flu and other respiratory illnesses and said staff will monitor attendance and clinic visits going forward.
Next steps for the strategic plan include the anticipated series of stakeholder sessions at schools and community meetings; board members said they expect to review draft goals and a proposed final plan at future regular meetings before a formal adoption vote.
