Lee County Board honors late assistant principal Dr. Taylor Williams and recognizes student winners

The Lee County Board of Education opened its March 9 regular meeting with a moment of silence for Dr. Taylor Williams, an assistant principal at Lee County Primary School. The board extended condolences to her husband George, her four children and extended family.
The board also recognized student achievements. Rocky Leadford, director of teaching and learning, introduced senior wrestler Delilah Batis, who was described as a multi‑time state champion and the first Lee County High School athlete to win three state championships in one sport; Paris Watts was also recognized for placing fifth at the state tournament. Later the board honored several students who placed first in their categories at the Southwest Georgia student technology competition and named those advancing to the state level.
Board members and staff invited students and coaches to the front of the room for photographs and applause. No public comments were offered later in the meeting.
