Town engineer Steve Sullivan told council the project will pulverize and chip‑seal roughly 13 miles of town streets and is procured through a national cooperative (GPA contract 2215P1). The proposed award reflected proposals totaling $2,878,933 plus a contingency allocation that brings the potential award to about $2.95 million, which staff said uses the town’s FY26 budget for streets.
Sullivan said staff completed geotechnical testing and ditch rehabilitation work in advance; the procurement includes allowances for some additional site work. Council members discussed the distinction between full pavement rehab and the chosen chip‑seal approach and noted the town is getting more lane miles improved for the budgeted amount compared with a deeper rehab approach.
Council approved the award on a roll call vote. Staff indicated a tentative start date in mid‑2026 and said the contractor could potentially begin work in early May depending on scheduling.
