Mark Wray, a board member of the Franklin County Agricultural Society, told commissioners on March 30 that the society is requesting $100,000 for the 2027 budget to address building needs at Celebration Hall and related costs. Wray said per-fair ongoing expenses covered by TGT funds have risen to $15,000 and that the board is open to county discussions about how to proceed.
Commissioner Meador and Commissioner Harris said they would be interested in helping fund a solution and in participating in discussions. County Administrator Derek Brown said he could participate or could send Paul Bean, FCDC director, in his place for those conversations. No formal motion or vote occurred during the study session; commissioners will include the requests on the April 8, 2026 agenda for formal consideration.
The Agricultural Society’s request centers on both recurring per-event cost increases and one-time capital needs for Celebration Hall, and county officials indicated willingness to engage in further planning conversations before any funding decision is made.
