Westford town manager previews spring events, Boston Road detour and Robinson School forums

Town Manager Kristen Lass used the April WCAT update to thank residents for attending the March 28 town meeting—more than 470 people registered—and to note that 22 warrant articles were considered. She also thanked staff, WCAT volunteers and long-serving Town Moderator Angela Harkness, who is not seeking re-election after six years of service.
Lass urged residents to attend a free "Hope Blooms Here" event on April 28 at the Town Hall courtyard from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month. She also outlined a busy Saturday, April 25, that will include a $25 rabies clinic, a free drug take-back in the police department lobby and a zero-waste and electronics recycling day run by the Recycling Commission and the Department of Public Works.
Lass reminded voters that the local election is May 5; polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. She said there are several contested races and that in-person early voting will be offered the week of April 27 through the Town Clerk's office, with details available on the clerk’s website and town news flashes.
The town manager promoted "Taste of Westford," organized by the Westford Economic Development Commission and the Westford Business Association, scheduled for May 21 at Orchard Church on Route 110. Restaurants may sign up to showcase food and beverage offerings; residents can purchase tickets to attend.
Lass announced that Town Hall will be closed on Patriots' Day (Monday, April 20) and called attention to ongoing school planning: Robinson School Feasibility Study forums are set for May 4 and May 18 at 7:00 p.m. (both in person at the Robinson School), with a hybrid wrap-up session on June 11 at the Millennium Building.
On infrastructure, Lass warned that the Boston Road detour will begin Monday, April 20 and run approximately 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. while crews perform water-main construction; she advised drivers to use alternate routes and noted that construction may begin earlier in the morning and continue later in the afternoon.
