Saucon Valley Middle School I/IT team wins regional manufacturing contest; board showcases student projects

The Saucon Valley School District board recognized the Saucon Valley Middle School I/IT team for winning the overall program award at the "What's So Cool About Manufacturing" contest, beating 29 other schools and earning the outstanding overall program award.
Meredith Lesny, identified as the middle school librarian and adviser, introduced the students and described their two-and-a-half-minute video about Crayola, which the students produced as part of the competition. Student Samantha McCarthy told the board, “We are very happy to share that we won the highest award of the contest. We beat out 29 other schools and we received outstanding overall program award.”
Crayola team manager Zach Sabatine walked the board through basic manufacturing steps shown in the students’ presentation, and the board congratulated the students and advisers. The students will travel to the state finals in Harrisburg in mid-May.
What’s next: The district agreed to display the students’ work at the school front desk and invited the winning team to speak to the board about their experience.
