Montgomery County appoints Amanda Duff as treasurer and approves sheriff's fee settlement and bills

At the Feb. 18 meeting the Montgomery County court voted to appoint Amanda Duff to fill the remainder of the county treasurer's term, which the court said will end June 30, 2027, following the announced retirement of Treasurer Mary Wilson at month end.
Commissioner Ralph Charles made the motion to appoint Duff; Commissioner Shane Parker seconded and the motion carried by voice vote. Amanda Duff accepted the appointment and thanked the court.
The court also reviewed and approved the sheriff's 2024 annual fee settlement "subject to audit," with a motion carried by voice vote. Commissioners reviewed the treasury report, manual checks, additional vouchers and budget transfers; Commissioner Parker reviewed the bills for February and the court voted to pay them.
Officials instructed staff to remove Mary Wilson from signature cards and to add Amanda Duff to county financial signature cards. No additional budget allocations were approved during the meeting. The court also announced a Feb. 28 groundbreaking for a new senior citizens center at 107 East Local Street and recognized Mary Wilson for 10 years of service.
