Commission unanimously recommends Anthology North PD amendment after elk-migration question

The Parker Planning Commission unanimously recommended that town council approve an amendment to the Anthology North plan development after hearing applicant remarks and public comment about a nearby elk herd.

An applicant representative opened by saying staff analysis found the proposal complies with the master plan, town code and approval criteria and asked the commission to recommend approval. During questioning, a commissioner raised material submitted by a member of the public that identified "elk migration" near the west side of the project. The applicant representative said they had overlaid the PD on Colorado Parks and Wildlife mapping and would conduct detailed ecological studies at the preliminary-plan stage rather than at the zoning stage; the representative said they would follow any recommendations those studies produce.

Several commissioners voiced support for moving the proposed school location for better dual access and for shifting housing density away from existing single-family lots. After limited public comment — including one resident reporting an elk sighting on Chambers — a motion was made and seconded to recommend town council approval; the commission voted unanimously to recommend the amendment.

The recommendation now moves to the town council for final action.
