Rexburg council accepts $500,000 block grant for Alura Business Innovation Center

The Rexburg City Council unanimously approved acceptance of a $500,000 Community Development Block Grant from the Idaho Department of Commerce for the Alura Business Innovation Center.
Tacy Stoddard of Alura Community Consulting summarized project progress, telling the council the innovation center on East 4th North is “about 75% complete” and that remaining interior and exterior work is expected to be finished by July 1, 2026, with final completion by July 31, 2026. Stoddard said there were no substantial changes to the project scope and that the project remains on schedule and in budget.
Council members said they had toured the site and noted strong local demand for the incubator space. Stoddard presented a project budget that totaled about $6.5 million, composed of the $500,000 Commerce block grant, roughly $1.2 million from a rural development grant, a $3.9 million EDA grant, and about $800,000 in Alura cash and land contributions.
The council opened the required public hearing for comment and, hearing none, moved and seconded a motion to approve the grant acceptance. The motion passed with unanimous vocal assent.
The council invited members to tour the facility once construction allows. City staff said required block-grant closeout paperwork is expected to be finished by Sept. 30, 2026.
