The board heard a facilities update that included a detailed timeline for the new Rendezvous school and progress on Riverton High School’s gym renovation.
A district maintenance representative (identified in the meeting as Mr. McFerson) said staff plan to advertise a request for professional services around May 20, interview shortlisted architectural firms the week of June 29 with candidate interviews around July 7, and present a recommendation for board approval at the July 15 meeting. He said a kickoff with the selected architect was planned for Aug. 4, with design deliverables targeted for Nov. 17, 2027, a January 2028 window for bids and a substantial-completion target in mid‑2029, with the district aiming to open the building for the 2029–30 school year.
On the Riverton High gym project, staff said contractors removed the bleachers and began removing the old floor ahead of the previously published schedule. The board discussed that the new ADA-compliant configuration will reduce gross seating by roughly 500 seats because of spacing and wheelchair cutouts; the new bleachers will be straight bench-style seating without backs. The district will create a community process for selling reclaimed bleacher wood and will preserve select floor sections as keepsakes to auction.
Trustees and staff suggested documenting progress with photos and posting updates for the public; staff said they would share images of the cleared space and continue to update the board as the project progresses.
