Fiscal court adopts ordinance updating electrical inspection fees

Lyon County’s Fiscal Court on Jan. 8 adopted Ordinance 01-2026, updating the county’s electrical inspection fee schedule and setting the ordinance’s effective date as Feb. 1, 2026. Judge Executive read the ordinance in summary at the meeting and noted the county consulted other counties and county legal counsel during drafting.
The ordinance sets a $75 fee for single-family, multifamily, mobile-home inspections, additions, change-outs and reinspections. It also establishes a graduated commercial fee schedule tied to the value of electrical work and cites the county’s authority under KRS Chapter 227. The judge executive said a full text of the ordinance is available in the judge executive’s office during normal business hours.
Magistrate Cummins moved to adopt the ordinance on its second and final reading; Magistrate Sutton seconded. The court conducted a roll-call vote and the magistrates present voted to adopt the ordinance. The measure will take effect Feb. 1, 2026.
Why it matters: The ordinance standardizes fees countywide and updates the county’s enforcement mechanism for electrical installations and related inspections. The court discussed compliance with a state letter to a local inspector and said the revision is intended to align county practice with state requirements.
