La Mesa — The City Council on April 14 approved a $20,000 allocation to update the 2022 park development impact fee study, a step councilmembers said is necessary to ensure new development contributes appropriately to park acquisition and improvements.
Councilmember Dillard introduced the item, describing the fee update as a way to reflect recent development and to fairly ask builders to contribute to park improvements. Councilmembers said state law constrains some local fee-setting but that an updated study would provide a defensible basis for potential fee adjustments.
The motion passed unanimously.
