Public Works Supervisor Corey Smith told the Traffic Safety Advisory Board that crews removed select flashing stop signs (Prairie Moon and Cattleman), installed flags and non‑flashing stop signs, and had seen no complaints since the change.
Corey and staff said obtaining striping contractors has been difficult; a prior quote to restripe Longhorn ran in the $75,000–$80,000 range, so the department will request additional striping funds in the next budget cycle and seek targeted jobs the city can afford this year.
Communications staff (Supervisor Pedro Zambrano, Lena Davis and Kevin Morales) reported a short educational-video series about traffic safety featuring Community Officer Brandon Papentine ("B Pap"). The first episode on pedestrian and crosswalk safety has been posted; forthcoming episodes will cover roundabouts, four‑way stops and merging. Members suggested distributing the videos at schools and through QR-code cards for broader reach.
Mr. Allen, speaking off agenda, summarized the first Vision Zero Task Force meeting. The task force drafted a mission statement, identified a high‑injury network and selected five miles of corridors for roadway safety audits (RSA); members were asked to pencil in the next Vision Zero meeting for May 7 at 4:30 p.m.
