Greensboro Parks and Recreation opens summer camp registration March 2; programs for ages 5–15 and inclusive Camp Joy

"We have a lot of camps. We have camps for all ages and abilities, and so we're really looking forward to the summer," said Jennifer, community engagement with Greensboro Parks and Recreation. She outlined offerings for younger children, teens, and participants with different abilities.
For ages 5–12, the department will run traditional recreation-center camps at nine facilities; Jennifer said the camps are "$100 a week, and that does include all the field trips as well." For older children, Parks and Recreation continues its teen experience at Cal Clue for 12–15-year-olds and Teen Extreme Camp (ages 13–15) at Lake Higgins, which includes outdoor activities and indoor rock-climbing sessions. The department also offers a two-week service-learning program through the Greensboro Youth Council that can earn participants up to 50 hours of service; Jennifer said that program costs $80 for two weeks.
The department highlighted inclusive programming at Camp Joy (Hagan-Stone Park), part of its adaptive and inclusive recreation program, which the host said "is for individuals of all abilities from ages 5 and up," and may include adults. Parks and Recreation also runs a counselor-in-training program and regularly hires counselors, lifeguards, pool technicians, and pool managers; Jennifer said the department is hiring until positions are filled.
Registration can be completed online or in person at recreation centers; Jennifer cautioned listeners that "some of our camps will fill up right away at 9:00 a.m.," and encouraged early online registration.
