County transportation staff presented a draft Virginia Department of Transportation secondary six‑year plan at the April 15 meeting and the board authorized staff to advertise a May 20 public hearing.
The main change from the prior plan was expanding the termini for Route 672 (Car’s Creek Road) to include recently built homes, approximately 1.85 miles from Route 15. Staff said the project would be fully funded in fiscal year 2027–28, with construction phased to begin in late summer or early fall when bids and permitting are complete. The expansion pushes other out‑year projects (including Old Fork Lane) further back in the plan but staff noted the plan is a rolling planning mechanism and out‑year projects can be reprioritized.
Board members asked about traffic counts, project duration (staff estimated up to roughly 13 months for some projects) and coordination with adjacent Louisa County on Two County Lane. The board voted to authorize advertisement of the required public hearing for the VDOT secondary six‑year plan.
The public hearing will be held May 20 and the board encouraged residents with questions to attend that meeting.
