Panel forwards Shore Beach Services 2026 rental plan unchanged after Island Club concerns

Asset and Risk Management Director Jimmy Aassa presented an amended resolution proposing 2026 beach rental locations and quantities for Shore Beach Services. Following correspondence from Island Club boards, staff reviewed placement and quantities and determined the Maiden Cane resort will not open in time for the season; they therefore recommended reverting 2026 quantities to 2025 levels.
The committee voted to forward the amended resolution to full town council with a recommendation for approval. The motion was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
Jerry Finelli, an Island Club resident, thanked staff for the accommodation but urged the town to monitor potential access and trespass issues once Maiden Cane opens in a future season. Aassa said staff will coordinate with Island Club security and revisit the path/access plan at the end of the season and will bring any necessary changes back to council.
Council members said they appreciated the accommodation and asked staff to keep Island Club residents informed if timelines or occupancy plans change. The committee asked staff to track any access issues and report back if adjustments to quantities or placement become necessary.
The committee then moved to adjourn; the meeting closed following a motion and second.
