Wildwood Crest eyes $2 million iBank grant for sewer replacement; New Jersey Avenue work slated for 2025–26

Engineer Mark DeBlasio told the commission the borough's pre‑planning meeting with the New Jersey Infrastructure Bank indicated "there's $2 million in grant money out there for sewer replacement," a sum that could also be used for repaving and reconstruction of affected roadways if the borough qualifies. DeBlasio added that enrolling in the bank's technical assistance program could allow the borough to have engineering fees covered.
Earlier in the meeting DeBlasio reported that the BASIH replacement project (awarded at a prior meeting) is scheduled to begin in roughly three weeks following a Sept. 12 pre‑construction meeting and execution of contracts. He also said two projects are ready to go out to bid at the next meeting: ADA bathroom renovations for Borough Hall (2023 NJDCA Small Cities grant) and the 2024 municipal‑aid Reconstruction of Toledo Avenue.
Administrator Connie said Taylor Design Group is working on final drawings for New Jersey Avenue, and that the borough will manage lighting, parking and landscaping while the county implements its roadway‑diet work. She said the borough's sanitary‑sewer work must be completed before the county undertakes its portion of the road improvements, which staff expect to start after the 2025 summer season with county work in 2026.
What happens next: staff will publish Taylor Design Group's drawings and an informational package when available; the borough plans to request resolutions to go to bid on two capital projects at the next meeting and will pursue iBank technical assistance to maximize grant eligibility and pay for engineering costs if accepted.
