The presenter also said the council will ratify the appointment of Mr. Mark Stevenson as fire chief of the Houma Fire Department following a selection process. The meeting includes four public hearings: declaring parish property at 6084 West Park Avenue surplus; rezoning 6634 and 6642 West Main Street from R1 to C2 at the request of Timothy Emerson; authorizing the parish president to execute a servitude/right‑of‑way agreement for commercial properties; and amending parish code chapter 7 article 1 on recreational vehicles and RV parks.
Presenter listed seven ordinances to amend the 2026 operating budget, detailing funding allocations including $2,500 for recreation, $20,000 for the animal shelter, two police department items totaling about $12,000, $20,000 for an American Legion post operation, $200,000 in CDBG/HUD recovery program income and an $85,000 adjustment for the Val High roundabout to begin underground electrical work. Presenter encouraged residents to attend and participate in public hearings.
