Fountain Fire Department recognized after upgrade to ISO Class 2 rating

The Fountain City Council recognized the Fountain Fire Department on April 14 for achieving an ISO Class 2 public protection classification, a notable improvement the chief said places the department among the higher-performing agencies nationwide.
Chief Graham explained ISO’s evaluation framework—fire department operations, communications/dispatch performance, water distribution, and risk reduction work such as prevention and inspections—and said Fountain moved from a Class 3 to a Class 2 following an ISO inspection roughly 18 months earlier. He thanked mutual-aid and automatic-aid partners by name and credited local public-safety funding measures for enabling investments in staffing, equipment and training.
Council member Verhoff introduced the proclamation; the council read the formal declaration recognizing the department’s professionalism, mutual-aid partnerships and continued commitment to public safety. No formal vote was required for the proclamation.
Chief Graham noted that a Class 2 ranking places Fountain within a small percentage of U.S. departments at that level and called out cooperation with neighboring districts and Fort Carson as critical to the improvement. Council members and staff congratulated firefighters and staff for the achievement.
