The Hudson School Board voted to place Willow River Elementary and its adjoining cinder lot on the market for $4.5 million with a deed restriction limiting future use to K–12 schools.
Trustee Megan Reschovsky moved to list the property at the $4.5 million price with the deed restriction; Kate seconded the motion and it passed by voice vote. Administration said the listing agreement follows the same parameters used for the recent Holton Elementary listing and includes standard showing limitations such as evenings and weekends and nondisclosure agreements for prospective buyers.
Board members and staff emphasized a preference that the property be acquired by a community-oriented buyer. "Listing Willow River does not preclude anyone in the community from putting together a plan and making an offer on the building for it to be a community use," Brian said, encouraging community groups to organize if they want to preserve a community use. Several trustees said they hoped for a community-driven outcome similar to discussions surrounding Holton.
The motion carried by voice vote, and the district will proceed with listing under the agreed parameters.
