The Southampton County School Board announced April 13 that it will conduct superintendent interviews April 14–29, 2026, after receiving 25 inquiries and 17 full applications.
Chairman Rogers read a summary of applicants: two current or former superintendents, four assistant/associate/deputy superintendents, six central-office administrators, two principals and three other applicants. The pool included seven men and 10 women; 14 candidates listed addresses in Virginia and three were from out of state (Florida, North Carolina and Tennessee).
The board said it will proceed with interviews in mid to late April and expects to select a candidate in the near future; no final appointment was announced at the meeting.
