City staff presented an update on the Downtown Shawnee Wayfinding Project during the council committee segment of the April 13 meeting, the city's communications director reported.
Doug Donahue summarized the project's goals: to establish and define the Downtown Shawnee area, direct visitors to public parking lots to create a positive parking experience, and provide an illustrated map to give pedestrians more information about landmarks and important buildings. The design concepts include a coordinated set of signs in a downtown color scheme of teal and orange intended to guide visitors and improve the pedestrian experience.
Donahue said the designs call for a variety of sign types and maps to be placed in the core district. The update will proceed through staff review and additional public-facing materials as designs are refined and scheduled for installation.
