Hanover Area SD names Gavin Holmes March Student of the Month

Gavin Holmes, a Hanover Area student active in the National Honor Society, student council, Key Club and several sports, was named the district's March Student of the Month at the April 14 Board of Education meeting.
John Sipper, the district's secondary principal, introduced Holmes and noted his involvement in the history club and volunteer work including peer tutoring and community events. Holmes told the board he plans to attend law school after graduation and credited several teachers — Coach Dobert, Dr. Holliday‑Green and Mrs. Osborne — for influencing his academic and extracurricular choices.
"I'm extremely honored," Holmes said, thanking teachers and his mother. He described how classroom experiences and teacher mentorship shaped his interests, including a longtime appreciation for chemistry gained through honors and advanced classes.
The board recognized Holmes during the superintendent's report and the meeting continued with routine business afterward.
