Councilor Shila Snider resigns; borough sets 30‑day window to fill vacancy

Councilor Shila Snider told the Palmyra Borough Council she is resigning, saying family circumstances required the move and thanking colleagues for the opportunity to serve.

"I will be tendering my resignation," Snider said, adding that her family had the opportunity to buy a home and that remaining on the council was not possible for them at this time. She praised the council as "a great borough council" capable of doing positive work for the community.

Mayor Miller told the council the borough has 30 days as of April 1 to appoint a new council member. Council members said interested candidates should submit their information to the borough office by April 24, 2026 and be prepared to attend the April 28 council meeting for public interviews; a selected candidate would be sworn in immediately.

The vacancy process the council described will rely on publicly held interviews at the council meeting and a vote by sitting council members to fill the seat for the remainder of the term. The borough's announcement instructs potential applicants to present themselves at the April 28 meeting and to provide application materials to the borough office by the stated deadline.

Councilors and staff briefly thanked Snider for her service and noted the council's workload going forward. No formal action on a replacement was taken at the meeting; the council will conduct interviews and make an appointment at a future public meeting.
