"This is a structural deficit," she told the board, and said the board will discuss the issue further at a board work study in April with a full 2026‑27 budget brought for approval in June. The board moved, seconded and approved filing the positive certification.
Calendars and delegates: The board adopted the JUHSD 2026‑27 governance calendar and approved district school‑year calendars for 2027‑28, 2028‑29 and 2029‑30 after staff noted a typo in the agenda title. The board also moved to approve Chelsea Bonini and Terry Chavez as CSBA delegate assembly nominees for Subregion 5B; the nominations were approved by voice vote.
Labor negotiations: The board opened a public hearing to "sunshine" (publicly post) proposals the AFT Local 1481 and the district intend to open for negotiations on articles for the 2026‑27 school year. Staff said articles being opened were shared for public comment; no members of the public spoke during that hearing and the board then closed the hearing and proceeded with the sunshine action in advance of negotiations beginning Thursday.
