Paramount’s City Council reorganized its leadership at the April 14 meeting, swearing in Brenda Olmos as mayor and Clara Stallings as vice mayor.
Council opened nominations and conducted the oath of office before a packed chamber. When sworn in, Mayor Brenda Olmos addressed the council and public, framing her approach as servant leadership and promising openness and transparency in council proceedings. “I am here to serve you. I want to hear your ideas, understand your needs, and make sure that City Hall is a place that works for you,” Olmos said after taking the oath.
Councilmembers then proceeded to appoint chairs and vice chairs for the city’s housing, industrial development, public parking and public finance authorities in a separate reorganization motion. Staff had recommended specific assignments; the council approved those recommendations by unanimous roll call.
The leadership changes are part of the council’s routine reorganization at the start of its new term. The council also took time to recognize outgoing Mayor Peggy Lemons’ service earlier in the evening before the reorganization votes.
