The MSD Warren Township Board of Education recorded the following formal actions during the meeting:
• Consent agenda: Motion moved by Kevin, seconded by Julie; agenda items including minutes, financial reports, HR report, field-trips, gifts/grants, and use of school property were approved.
• Claim register: Pulled from consent and approved after separate motion and second.
• Roof replacement contract: Board approved staff recommendation to award the high-school roof replacement to Brown’s Roofing; staff presented a guaranteed maximum price (GMP) figure of $3,356,517 (base and alternates reported ~ $2,637,500) and asked for board approval.
• Warrior Stadium renovation: Board approved bundled bid recommendations and the construction manager’s GMP that includes contingency for track, turf (with warranty alternates), electrical and general trades. District staff explained contingency use and emphasized coverage for unforeseen conditions.
• Policy approvals: The board adopted revisions to policies including electronic monitoring and recording, digital content and accessibility, expanded background checks for contracted services (policy 8121 updated per Indiana citations), environmental health and safety (policy 8405), AED policy (8452) that mandates drills and an approximately three-minute response goal at venues, and updated child abuse and neglect reporting and training requirements (policy 8462).
• Resolution: The board adopted a resolution opposing the DC Blocks data center proposal; see separate article for details.
Board votes were taken on the record for the packet items and approvals presented; staff indicated GMPs include contingency and that procurement timelines would be shared with board members ahead of bids and pre-bid sessions.
