Waite Park schedules public hearings and an open house for two street-improvement projects

The Waite Park City Council on Feb. 2 authorized public hearings for two street-improvement projects and scheduled an open house to share project details with residents.

City staff presented the 2025–26 Sundial Drive improvement study and asked the council to order a public hearing. City staff also said an open house will be held on Thursday from 4:30 to 7 p.m. for residents to review materials and ask questions; the council set the formal public hearing for Feb. 17, 2026. Ken, who presented the projects to the council, said staff will provide materials to residents who request them.

Council also considered the 23rd Avenue South and 12th Street South improvements. Staff reported an addition error in the project assessment spreadsheet that undercounted water-main footage; the spreadsheet was corrected and the updated assessment information was posted to the city website and prepared for publication in the local paper. The council moved and seconded to proceed and ordered a public hearing for Feb. 17.

Both items drew brief discussion; one council member recorded an opposing voice during the voice votes for each project, but the motions carried. Residents are invited to the open house for informal discussion with staff ahead of the hearings.
