The Leaport Urban Enterprise Association moved quickly to clear a tax delinquency so the city could take title of a parking lot on Monroe Street. Staff reported that legal work on the transfer uncovered unpaid taxes for the 2023–24 and 2024–25 tax years, and the board paid $3,294 to settle the balance.
Maryanne, the staff member who presented the claim docket, told the board that the November installment from 2023 was never paid and that no taxes had been paid for the 2024–25 year. She said the board scanned the treasurer’s receipt and sent it to “Newbie Lewis Kaminsky and Jones” to handle recording the quitclaim deed to the city.
The payment cleared the outstanding balance and staff confirmed the deed recording process was completed. Board members discussed uncertainty over why a tax bill was never issued to the association; one member suggested the bill may have been sent to a previous owner.
The board did not take any additional action beyond paying the delinquent taxes and confirming deed recording. Staff will communicate the payment and recording status to the city and interested parties.
