At its business meeting, the Urbana School District 116 board unanimously approved the consent agenda and accepted a set of gifts to district schools.
The consent agenda included minutes from previous meetings, voucher/bill approvals across operating funds, personnel items, disposal of certain property and approval for staff travel to a conference in Denver; a new activity count for the UHS girls flag-football team was also approved. The board voted by roll call; all trustees recorded "yes." (Transcript includes several dollar figures read aloud from the packet, but some numbers are rendered ambiguously in the audio transcript; the board packet is the authoritative source for exact amounts.)
Board members also moved, seconded and unanimously approved the appointments of student ambassadors Cali Cortez Alvarez and Valentina Gonzalez; the board administered an oath to the students.
Later in the meeting the board unanimously passed a resolution expressing official intent to reimburse certain capital expenditures from the proceeds of a future bond issuance tied to the Sixth Grade Center project. Carol (staff) explained that the board plans to sell bonds around Oct. 31; the reimbursement resolution allows the district to reclassify eligible expenditures dating back to late June/July so they can be paid for from bond proceeds once the sale closes. Staff emphasized the resolution is a standard legal mechanism that does not change project construction timelines or total costs.
Votes recorded during the meeting showed unanimous approval on the agenda items, appointments, consent agenda, acceptance of gifts and the reimbursement resolution. Staff noted they will proceed with required administrative follow-up to complete the bond-closing and reimbursement process.
