Directors highlight budget workshops, community events and urge public comment on proposed APS rate increase

President Christine Noll reminded residents that the board’s next workshop is March 13 (focused on the capital budget and pool deck discussions) and the regular meeting is March 19; both meetings will be held in the lecture hall at 9 a.m. Director Piscowski and other directors encouraged residents to review the draft operational and capital budgets, watch the budget-and-finance committee meeting on YouTube and submit questions before the workshop.
Director Rudy Grom said he attended an Arizona Corporation Commission public hearing on the proposed APS 14% rate increase and urged residents to submit written comments to the ACC (statements accepted through at least June). He said the proposal includes a formula that could allow future increases without ACC approval and encouraged residents to visit the ACC website to comment. "We need to defeat that," he said in the meeting.
Tom Jones (record card 110390), past president of the Automotive Restoration Club, offered public comment thanking staff for support of the annual auto show and describing raffle winners. Directors also promoted a pop-up event at Coons (3–5 p.m.), a movie night and other community gatherings; staff said information and Sun City West merchandise would be available.
President Noll adjourned the meeting at 9:35 a.m.
