Commission approves $50,000 exterior-improvement grant over one dissent

The Coral Springs City Commission voted 3–1 to award a $50,000 Economic Development Incentive Program (EDIP) exterior-improvement grant to the applicant listed on the agenda.

Economic Development Officer Caitlin Collier summarized the program: approved applicants may receive reimbursement of up to 50% of eligible exterior improvement costs, capped at $50,000. Eligible work includes demolition and repair of architectural elements, stucco repair, awning removal and replacement, and new storefront windows. Collier said the city’s annual budget for the program is $250,000 and that the applicant’s property owner is Dynasty Custom Holdings LLC.

During questions, commissioners asked whether other applicants had applied and how the city promotes the program; staff said they use a QR-code card, post on the city website and include the program in a city magazine and direct outreach.

At least one commissioner opposed the grant, saying the commission should ensure recipients are visible and actively supporting community organizations or local teams before awarding public funds. “It’s not a quid pro quo, but it’s what are you pouring back into the city?” the commissioner said. The motion carried 3–1.

The transcript contains an inconsistent rendering of the applicant’s name (the agenda materials and staff identified the applicant variously as “Lacrosse Square, Inc.” and the transcript also references “Lacrosse Wire, Inc.”). Staff also noted the property address is listed as 11830 Wiles Road in Coral Springs and that the property owner is Dynasty Custom Holdings LLC.
